Direct writers and Art directors for freelance
03 Mrt 2010
First of all sorry for the cold introduction but life is very busy and we are very excited about creating a new agency in a Amsterdam. But an agency is only as good as it’s people and their talents, so we need to make good choices when it comes to finding the right people. This is where you come in.
Let me step back a bit. We are DAD, digital and direct communications, probably the most successful direct agency in the UK in terms of billings. We work with Sky TV and Vodafone here in the UK and ONO in DAD Madrid to name but a few, we have 140 staff here in the UK covering everything from TV and print through to digital. 20 years we opened our doors and they’ve never shut since, we are independent, have no debt and we own our offices. We are good, very good and extremely professional, we don’t mess around.
DAD has a unique way of selling, yes we sell and are not ashamed of it but we never ever damage our clients brand, all we do is exploit it. We call this methodology Response-ibility, all our work demands a response for our clients crossing both Brand Response and Direct Response. So the golden rule in direct is messaging first and that’s why I need your help. I need 2 strong integrated writers and art directors to lead creatively our new set up in Amsterdam, we will educate them in our culture and methodology. The candidates must be creative, used to long copy also, Dutch nationals and have a good level of English, experience in the home entertainment industry (TV, broadband, phone) would be good. I’m looking for passionate people, no prima donnas please, who won’t stop until they get the answer, speed is important, understanding a brief and delivering great work against it is vital. We make our clients look good through selling their products in vast quantities, it’s that simply.
Let me explain the opportunity. We always open an office on the back of a client win and Amsterdam is no exception. Just before Christmas we won a pitch for a Dutch based television/broadband/phone provider who works across 9 European countries. We are currently creating the first pan-European campaign for them out of London but there is a need to satisfy a huge amount of local Dutch work in the first instance and I would like to think that the new writers will have a crack at the pan-European briefs when they settle in.
Any questions just ask. One more thing, across all our offices we use freelancers and the ones who find their feet quickly in our culture are extremely valuable to us, I work with several freelancers who have been with us from 3 to 6 years, day in day out. This is a huge opportunity for the right people, at the start of a huge opportunity for our business.
Thanks, Tony.
Creative Director, DAD.

hi Tony,
I have a background as an architect and as you might know, times are not so great. I am intrigued by advertising itself and creating new ideas/designs, i might not have that much experience in advertising but as in architecture, its all about communicating your own ideas!
so Tony, can i apply?

Dear Mr. Tony,
With reference to your advertisement on the JongeHonden website, I am writing to apply for the position of a freelance Direct writer/Art director.
I understand you are a very busy man, so I will get straight to the point:
The only reason for me to apply for this job would be the challenge to teach you how to advertise your agency.
Yet -as I have learned from previous appointments- I always tempt to reach for those opportunities that are both challenging and extreme.
So herewith.
Yours sincerely,
Marleen

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the inspiration! Let me try and give some back.
I have worked as a copywriter for an artproject-agency. We created social labratories where people with different backgronds met eachother and created.
During these projects we discovered many benefits of diversity: Europe's Future. It was my job to create a new language to suit these projects and in a way to suit a new divers Europe where diversity simply 'is'.
I think this experience can write the future of advertising in a very real way. We should talk!
Thanks, Pieter Perry
